Salim Singh was the diwan(Prime Minister) of jaislamer. During the early 19th century . He was well known for his cruelty and excessive taxation. He governed with an iron hand and struck fear into the hearts of the local.

Legend says that Salim Singh, the evil prime minister, set his eyes upon the daughter of the village head and declared he would marry her, with or without her consent.

Rather than yielding, they did the unthinkable they disappeared overnight.

No one shall ever live in this village again. Whoever attempts to do so shall die.

These ominous words of the Brahmin chief were spoken when the Paliwal Brahmins left Kuldhara overnight during the 19th century. The thriving village was cursed to be forever deserted and uninhabitable. They had cast a killing curse before they left so that their land would be free from any intruders.

Kuldhara has been uninhabited for more than 200 years, and no human occupant can live there.

  • The chhatris are built from sandstone blocks and come in various sizes, reflecting the status of the deceased royal.

 

5•Tanot Mata Temple

 

Distance from kuldhara 133km.

The temple is open throughout the week from 6 AM to 8 PM

  • Tanot Mata is a Hindu temple in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan, India. The temple is located close to the border with Pakistan near where the Longewala battle took place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
  • Tanot was attacked by the Pakistan Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 during which 3,000 bombs were fired towards the temple
